Implantation
Implantation is the implantation of an artificial tooth.
The dental system is a single whole. Often, the loss of one tooth causes the entire system to malfunction, and the absence of several teeth leads to pathological changes in the temporomandibular joint. The best way to replace missing teeth is implantation.
If you have lost a tooth as a result of a dental disease or injury, then you should remember about the possibilities of modern dentistry and, in particular, about the procedure of dental implantation. Implants, or as they are also called, implants are usually installed instead of lost teeth, or rather in their position. Implants are most often titanium "roots" installed under the gum in the bone base of the jaw. After the implants are placed, they fuse with the jaw bone and are already artificial teeth roots. Then artificial teeth (crowns) are attached to them according to a certain technology and in a certain sequence — single or bridge-shaped.
With non-removable prosthetics with bridge prostheses, the supporting teeth have to be sharpened, in addition, they carry a double load for themselves and for the missing teeth. As a result, the service life of the supporting teeth is significantly reduced. When prosthetics on implants, each tooth bears the load only "for itself".
Removable dentures require long-term habituation, exert negative pressure on the oral mucosa, causing areas of inflammation. Many patients are psychologically unable to tune in to removable prosthetics. Implantation will save you from wearing a removable prosthesis.
Dental implants are made of biocompatible materials: titanium or zirconium oxide and, as a rule, take root well. Then a tooth made of metal and/or porcelain is installed on the implant. Usually, after the installation of an artificial implant support, it should take from 3 to 6 months before the artificial tooth is set. This time is necessary for the implant to strengthen in the bone. However, it is not uncommon for an artificial crown to be placed immediately after implantation surgery. Often, a titanium root is installed immediately after the removal of a diseased tooth. It all depends on each specific situation. For the best solution of this issue, the patient needs to consult with a doctor.
We use several systems for implantation:
1.Alpha Bio (Israel)
2.Replace (joint Swedish-American company Nobel Biocare)
3.Osstem (South Korea)
When there is a shortage of bone tissue, we use osteoplastic surgery:
1.Sinus lifting
2.Splitting of the bone crest
Implant engraftment, like any other medical or dental procedure, cannot be 100% guaranteed, however, according to statistics, implants take root in about 96-99%.
Tooth restoration with the help of implantation has a huge number of advantages. Unlike removable dentures, crowns on implants do not injure the gum. In addition, usually the fasteners and supports of removable prostheses cause a gag reflex and are poorly fixed on the lower jaw due to the mobility of the tongue muscles.
Unlike bridges, implants do not require grinding of adjacent teeth, and allow you to make a smile almost perfect, even if the teeth were uneven earlier.
In order to install the implant, you need sufficient width and height of the bone at the place of the planned implantation. The function of the artificial tooth root in the future depends on this. If there is a lack of bone, it is necessary to perform a bone grafting operation.
